Our Story

Dirk van der Velde is the founder of Momentasize Companies. He’s a freedom-loving husband, father, and entrepreneur.

The concept of Momentasize was first born in 2019 while he was training for a 100-mile race with his good friend Matt. Dirk was attempting to explain to him what running had done for his life. As he struggled to put it into words, he blurted out that it helped him to “momentasize” his life. It put him into a flow state that then helped him to conquer each moment or to “momentasize” it. The idea stuck with him, and using this foundational mindset, he went on to create Momentasize Companies in 2021.

The Momentasize brand now encompasses a construction, development, and real estate investment company. Dirk and his wife Shai have a huge vision for Momentasize Construction and, at the core of this, is a passion for bringing many, many great minds and hands together to bring his clients’ dreams into reality. They truly believe that when you use your own candle to light someone else’s, the world becomes a brighter place.

Our Founder and CEO, Dirk, grew up in a small Dutch village named Voorhout where he lived with his parents and two Siblings until he was 14 years old. In 2007, his family moved to Central Oregon where they have resided ever since. Dirk grew up with soccer being his main focus and passion. He had the privilege of playing collegiate D1 soccer at Saint Louis University for two years and then Portland University where his team won the WCC Regional Championship his Senior year. Dirk graduated from Portland University with Bachelor Degrees in Business and Entrepreneurship. Once Dirk graduated college, he began pouring all of his attention into learning the Real Estate investing game. Having grown up around many successful Real Estate Developers, Dirk has been fortunate enough to have been able to learn from many worthy mentors. He then was able to leverage this knowledge into starting his own Construction and Development Company in 2021. Since then, Dirk and Momentasize Companies has spearheaded multiple 8-figure Real Estate deals and has grown to encompass an educational platform where Dirk has found true passion in sharing this knowledge with other entrepreneurs. Dirk lives in Central Oregon with his wife Shai and two sons, Chitstiaan and Beo where he strives to live the Momentasize lifestyle day-to-day.

Shai grew up exploring her families Wyoming ranch, hunting, horseback riding and camping with her parents and four Siblings. She attended the University of Wyoming where she studied Geology and Anthropology. She then moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked as a Legal Assistant at an Oil and Gas Law Firm from 2014 to 2017. Currently, Shai resides in Central Oregon where she spends part of her time working on growing Momentasize Companies and part of her time raising her two Sons Christiaan and Beo. At Momentasize, Shai has been an integral part of all big picture planning since the company’s inception in 2021.

Conor Johnston

Prior to joining Momentasize Companies, Conor served as an Investment Sales Professional with Ariel Property Advisors. He was responsible for executing exclusive listings and facilitating business development initiatives throughout New York City. He was also involved in marketing an array of asset classes, including multifamily, mixed-use, industrial, commercial and development. Previously, he was an Associate for Alta Portfolio Company, a privately held real estate investment firm based in Napa, California that owned, operated, and developed commercial property across the Napa Valley

Mr. Johnston earned a BBA in Finance, BS in Spanish and MS in Finance from the University of Portland, where he was an NCAA Division 1 College Athlete on the Men’s Soccer and Track & Field teams. He is fluent in Spanish and is a blockchain enthusiast.

His expertise allows him to execute masterfully in organizing, planning, and overseeing project tasks. He performs quality inspections and supervises all project members, including staff and sub-contractors.

Riley is the newest member of the Momentasize team. Prior to joining, he worked full-time at the University of Portland where he was the department head for the athletic department’s content creation and live-broadcast teams. Riley brings a wealth of experience ranging from social media management, video and audio production, brand management, and much more.

Mikayla brings a unique set of skills to Momentasize Companies. In the past, she has been part of growing the Buff Dudes platform, known online for creating digital content and short films about fitness. At Momentasize, she is utilizing her knowledge and skill set to help grow and improve our online platform and business overall. Mikayla is from Atlanta, Georgia, and attended the University of Georgia as an undergrad. Nutrition, health and fitness are a priority for her, as she loves to lift weights and run – but only after walking her dog, Ash.
